Antonio Valencia Man of the Match Vs Pompey

Wigan Athletic player Antonio Valencia was voted Man of the Match in what was probably his last outing for the club in Sunday`s game against Portsmouth at the JJB Stadium.

Valencia gave a wonderful display and looked desperate to score on his farewell performance tormenting Pompey defender Hermann Hreidarsson all afternoon with pace and trickery.

The Ecuador international will be sorely missed down the Latics right but it has been a privilege to witness such a gifted player in a Wigan kit, one thing for sure with Valencia that endeared him to the JJB faithful was his work rate.

Highly talented yet he put in 100% every game he played and that`s more than can be said for a few prima donnas knocking around the Premier League at the moment, wherever he ends up, Real Madrid, Manchester United or Bayern Munich they will be getting some player.

For the record the voting went:

Man of Match Vs Pompey

Antonio Valencia - 52%
Hugo Rodallega - 17%
