Pollitt Signs Up For Another Season

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Mike Pollitt has signed a new one year deal to keep him at the club for the 2009/10 season

Pollitt says he is delighted to sign on again and that at his age, 37, it`s a privilege to be playing for a Premier League club, Pollitt said:

'It wasn't a difficult decision to make, it probably took all of 30 seconds, and more or less it's the same contract I've been on this season. I wasn't in a position to go in and ask for stupid money. I'm the number two keeper, so I had to be sensible.

'Of course I would have liked to have played a few more games, any player would think the same, but it's still good to be involved in the squad. I'm at a Premier League club and the chance of still having the opportunity to play games at this level is worth hanging about for.

'I waited a long time to get to The Premier League after being in the lower divisions so I'd be reluctant to leave. From a family point of view, I don't live far away and the kids are settled at school, so being here suits me.'
