Kupisz and Cywka Sign Extended Deals

Wigan Athletic have given new deals to reserve team youngsters Polish lads Tomasz Kupisz and Tomasz Cywka.

Both players have been at the club since they were 17 Cywka joining in 2006 and Kupisz came a year later and both have shown enough promise this season to be given a pay rise and new terms.

Kupisz made his first team debut in August 2008 coming on as a substitute in the Carling Cup 2nd round tie against Notts County and he scored a lovely goal to cap a lively display, he was also on the bench for last Sundays final game of the season at home to Portsmouth.

Cywka has recently suffered a serious knee injury but before this he was already knocking on the first team door with some impressive displays for the reserves where he has been converted from an attacking midfield player to a striker and he scored 6 goals in 14 appearances for the reserves this season.

Tomasz Cywka told the clubs official website: 'I'm happy to sign. I had a pretty good season until the injury, but my plan now is to move to the next level and try and make it into the first team squad. It has to be.'

Tomasz Kupisz spoke about his ambition and also speaking to the clubs website said: 'I have been happy at Wigan and I feel my game has come on. But I want to play first team football and my ambition is to do that here at Wigan.'

as a regular watcher of the reserves, I have been impressed with how the two lads have improved over the last 12 months and both should be pushing for first team inclusion next season
