Ferguson in frame for Latic's post

Darren Ferguson is Latics choice for their next manager if Steve Bruce as expected leaves for the Stadium of Light according to today's Daily Mirror.

37 year old Ferguson has been linked with the Latics before, when as a midfielder with Wrexham.

This time however, the man who has taken the POSH to successive promotions with a mix of experienced professionals and players plucked from the non league is linked with the biggest job of all at Wigan, that of manager.

Ferguson, whose family live in the North West is also strongly linked with the vacant Aberdeen and Reading jobs.

Like the other front runner for the Wigan post, Roberto Martinez, his lack of experience at Premier League level may persuade the club to look elsewhere.
