The move which is believed to have arisen following Bruce's unhappiness with cost cutting measures in terms of wages and how much money from transfer fees accrued would be available to bring in new players, will leave Wigan searching for a new manager and backroom staff, as it is believed that Bruce wants to take all his coaching and scouting staff with him.
If true this will leave Wigan searching for a new manager and support staff and with a need to strengthen the squad, there will no doubt be concern that the targets identified by Bruce and his team will go to Sunderland rather than Wigan.
Of the managerial targets, the fans favourite Roberto Martinez has emerged as the favourite for the Celtic vacancy with the other front runner Darren Ferguson subject of a bid from Reading.
This leaves former Latic's boss Paul Jewell as the front runner,a move thst would engender mixed emotion amongst the Latics faithful.
It promises to bean eventful summer for WIgan Athletic and its fans.
