Teko Modise Set to Move To The Latics

Teko Modise Set to Move To The Latics

Wigan Athletic, despite all the uncertainty surrounding the managers situation, are believed to be close to signing South Africa international midfield man Teko Modise

The 26 year old Soweto born attacking midfielder currently plays for Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League in South Africa and in 53 appearances he has scored 10 goals and was recently reportedly interesting Latics Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

Modise is an integral part of the South Africa national side with 9 goals in 33 appearance since making his debut in 2007 and he has been named as ambassador by McDonalds ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

One scouting report likens Teko Modise as: about the same build as Steven Pienaar but a bit more creative and has quite a mean shot on him. Technically quite sound as well, not bad at taking a free kick, actually a good player, very different from Wilson Palacios, but fairly similar to Pienaar, quicker though, and a goal scorer.

Thanks to Boebie for the report.

Here is a short youtube clip of him playing
