Wigan Athletic - Transfer Targets Identified

Latics boss Roberto Martinez has identified initially four players that he would like to bring into the club and chairman Dave Whelan confirmed that a bid for a player has been tabled and he believes accepted by a club in Spain.

Vital Wigan last week reported exclusively that a 900,000 Euro bid had been made and speculation is rife on who that target just might be but Whelan wasn`t forthcoming as he spoke to Sky Sports News, he told the satellite channel:

'I asked him (Martinez) on Saturday for a priority list of players and he gave us four priorities'

'We have already made a bid for one, which I think has been accepted, so we are on the case. It's a player from the Spanish league.

'I have promised Roberto that we will back him right down the line, so we have got an exciting season coming up that's for sure.'

'When you look at Wigan, we need another striker, that's for sure, we need a couple in midfield as well"

I knew they had stuff cooking behind the scenes. "If I HAPPEN to drop this piece of paper with a players name on it and you HAPPEN to pick it up and try to sign him.... who am I to stop you??"
