Jordi Gomez 'Buzzing' With Latics Move

Wigan Athletic new boy Jordi Gomez cant wait to get started with the pre-season following his 1 million move from Spanish club Espanyol.

Becoming manager Roberto Martinez` first signing for the Latics the 24 year old midfield player says it was an easy decision to sign for the club and he is very grateful for the chance to play in what he considers is the best league in the world.

Gomez spent last season with Martinez at Swansea on a year long loan deal and obviously they both saw enough in each other to want to continue their working relationship which bodes well for the future for the Latics.

The young Spaniard says he had a great relationship with the Swansea supporters and hopes to that he can recreate that with the Latics fans, he promises to give maximum effort in each game and show exactly what he`s got.

Speaking to the clubs official website Gomez said:

'I am looking forward to meeting all the players I don't really know any of them personally, only by reputation, so it's a real buzz to be coming into such a talented squad and trying to make my mark.

'Looking at the players already here, it's going to be tough to get in the team and keep my place but that's what I aim to do and I'll be doing my best in every training session and if I'm lucky enough to get selected.

'I just want to thank the club and Roberto for having faith in me and I can't wait to get started in July.

'I had a good relationship with the supporters at Swansea, and I hope the Wigan fans will see a player who gives everything, every time he puts on the shirt.'
