Wigan Athletic new boy Hendry Thomas says that joining the Latics is a dream come true and one that has taken a full 12 months to materialise following last years decision by the government to refuse the Honduras international a work permit.
Thomas has finally been granted his work permit and he has over come the personal disappointment of last years set back and he is now raring to get started on the training pitch to show the Latics coaching staff and especially boss Roberto Martinez that he has a lot to offer.
In an interview with the clubs official website the 24 year old midfield man says that he has worked hard for the past year in order to stay fit and make the Honduras national team so that he could achieve the requisite number of international appearances to be granted the work permit.
Thomas also says that having a Spanish speaking boss will help him settle easily into the club though Martinez has stressed that all team talks will be in English so he will need to learn the language quickly, he said:'I want to prove myself in the Premier League and what happened last year was very disappointing for me personally.
'I have worked hard all season to stay fit and qualify for the work permit rules and it is a dream come true for me to come to England. I have talked a lot with Maynor and Wilson about the club and I can't wait to start now.
'I want to thank Roberto Martinez and Wigan Athletic for giving me the chance to come here and I'm determined to show them they have not made a mistake. Having a Spanish-speaking manager will help me but I am determined to learn the language quickly because Roberto has told me already the team talks will be in English'
Nice one Hendry and welcome to the Latics - the catracho connection continues![]()
