Fans Unanimous In Wanting Stand Re-named

Fans Unanimous In Wanting Stand Re-named

Wigan Athletic have changed their ground name from the JJB Stadium to the DW Stadium following a change of sponsor and club owner Dave Whelan also took the opportunity to re-name the North Stand the Billy Boston Stand in recognition of one of most the famous sporting personalities to have been associated with Wigan

Billy Boston though was a Rugby League player and with the ground being the home of Premier League football Latics fans have rallied around to try and get Dave Whelan to re-name the East Stand to reflect something auspicious from the Latics past.

Vital Wigan regular Zakky suggested that we run a poll on the site to see what the feelings amongst the fans and visitors to the site are on the idea of having the East Stand changed to the Springfield Park Stand.

The poll asked - 'Would You Like To See The East Stand Renamed The Springfield Park Stand?`

The result was: Yes definitely - 81%
No name it after a Latics Legend - 18%

The result has been emailed to Ed Jones who is the clubs new media manager following Andy Maxey`s move to Sunderland with Steve Bruce. Ed`s response will be notified to all on Vital Wigan.

Vital along with other fans sites such as Not a Patch On, Wiganer.net, Wigan Fans Online, Cockney Latic, MudHuts and Ye Old Tree and Crown support and are campaigning for the renaming of a stand at the DW Stadium to reflect the Latics history

What we need is a General to lead this campaign and I think Zakky may just be the man

I'm very flattered that you think so but I think The Landlord from YOTAC should be the man to spearhead the campaign on behalf of us all. Perhaps all the editors from all Latics websites should half a chat.
