Wigan Athletic - They`re Back

Wigan Athletic players turned up today for the first day of pre-season and the first thing that they would have noticed is that there is a new man in charge with a new set of helpers.

Steve Bruce and his backroom staff have packed their bags and headed up the A1(M) to Sunderland and in has stepped Roberto Martinez, Graeme Jones, Inaki Bergara, Oscar Brau and Graham Barrow, there is just Frank Barlow and Dave Watson remaining from the old regime.

The first week is all about fitness and yesterday Martinez give a little hint to the hard work for the players in the next few days when he said: "first sessions are going to be vital to be able reach intensities as quickly as we can"

So quite a bit of hard graft and sweat shedding for the players as they get to know their new boss and his team.

There are also two new faces on the playing front with Jordi Gomez and Hendry Thomas joining the Latics in the past three weeks and the promise of four more new signings yet to come means that there will be a new feel about the team come August 15th and the opening game of the season at Aston Villa

Why wouldn't he? I haven't heard anything about him leaving for a few weeks.
