It is believed that a fee of around 2 million pounds has been agreed and Wigan have beaten off competition form Wolves to secure his signiture.

The proposed signing of Mc Carthy conitnues the good work of Steve Bruce in investing in young quality players, making up for the lack of quality coming through the youth ranks
