James McCarthy Torn Between Latics and Wolves

Wigan Athletic transfer target James McCarthy is deliberating over which club to choose, the Latics or Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Both clubs have agreed a deal with McCarthy`s current club Hamilton Academicals believed to be £2 million and personal terms have been sorted with the player leaving the decision to the young midfield man as to which would be the best move career wise for him.

McCarthy has spoken at length to Latics boss Roberto Martinez and his Wolves counter-part Mick McCarthy and he is said to be suitable impressed by both managers which has left him in a quandary, but full credit he is taking his time over making what will be a very important career move and spending the weekend with his parents whilst he decides his future.

The 18 year old told reporters: 'I've not stopped thinking about what I should do. I will not rush this but know I have to decide as soon as possible.

'I was impressed with what Mick McCarthy and Roberto Martinez had to say - both made me feel wanted.'

Good to see he is weighing up his options and not just diving in head first

we've apparently offered him a place in the first team 18 which raises doubts about some of the existing squad
