Wigan Athletic - Raul Tamudo Set Back

Vital Latics understands that the talks to bring Espanyol striker Raul Tamudo to the DW stadium have broken down due to wrangling over personal terms.

The players agent, Tomas Duran spent last weekend trying to thrash out a deal that was attractive enough for his player to leave Spain and head for the Premier League with Duran being quoted as saying: 'Raul will only be tempted to change if he receives a big offer."

Well it appears that the offer to the 31 year old wasn`t enough and though his club were willing to do a deal it looks like the prospect of Tamudo swapping the blue and white of Espanyol for the blue and white of Wigan Athletic is not going to happen.

In a twist Espanyol boss, Mauricio Pochettino stripped Tamudo of the club captaincy telling the press: 'In a mutual agreement, I met with Raul in the last days and we reached an agreement for him to quit the captaincy and Dani Jarque to assume it in a natural manner,'
