Following last nights game at Deepdale between Preston North End and Wigan Athletic both managers spoke about the game and the pre-season, lets see what they had to say:
Latics boss Roberto Martinez
'There are many things that we need to do better, and many things we need to correct, there was the goal we conceded, for example, and the three chances that we missed. - but on the other side they are many pleasing things that are giving us a good platform to build on.
'We are excited, we are looking forward, but tonight we have won nothing.
'We need to make sure we continue working hard and getting the players to master what they are good at.
'This was another good fitness exercise, and it was pleasing
to see the players implementing all the concepts that we have been working on.
'It is good to see the healthy competition that we have got in the squad, and the players are all hungry and desperate to play for the club, which you need in any successful team.
'But we must remember this is pre-season, it was a fitness exercise and there are not many players in the squad who are ready to play 90 minutes at the moment.'
PNE boss Alan Irvine:
'They're a good team and I expected them to be a good team, they had a good season last season and I expected them to build on that at this time,' Irvine said as he prepared to take his team north of the border for their final warm-up match.
'They passed the ball really well, their movement was really good and there are a lot of things to learn from the game tonight but the great thing about pre-season games is that they don't count. We can go away, study what we did well, study what we didn't do so well and try and improve.'
