Wigan Athletic Player Profile - James McCarthy

Name: James McCarthy
Nationality: Irish
D.O.B 12/11/1990

James McCarthy is a young well attributed attacking midfielder he is available on either wing or just behind the strikers which would suit either Hugo Rodallega or Jason Scotland.

He is 18 and has won the SPL Young Player of The Year award and has played for just one club (Hamilton Academicals) for 3 years in which he has altogether scored 15 goals in 85 appearances not including subs

He has played for The Republic of Ireland under 21`s and represented the under 19`s, 18`s and 17`s

So far so good. But would he fit into the Latics squad?

At the moment the answer is no. Hopefully what we need to do is slowly ease him into the squad e.g. substitutes and let him build partnerships and then start starting him and then eventually he will be able to play a full 90 minutes in a premier league game and score quite a few goals to.
