Lawro Predicts - Villa Vs Latics

Wigan Athletic travel to Aston Villa for the season`s opener and though it is a new season BBC`s pundit and ex-Liverpool defender Mark 'Lawro` Lawrenson who in keeping with his tradition of picking victories for home sides continues by backing the Villa to see off the Latics, lets see what his reasons are:

Aston Villa Vs Wigan Athletic

'The loss of Gareth Barry and Martin Laursen will be significant for Villa, but Martin O'Neill is a shrewd operator.

I doubt teenage midfielder Fabian Delph will make his Premier League debut on Saturday, but there is no doubt he will be a big star of the future.

New Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is still moulding his team.

He has lost a few big-impact players, the likes of Wilson Palacios, Antonio Valencia and Lee Cattermole, as well as strikers Mido and Amr Zaki and I think Villa will be too strong. '

Verdict: 2-0

Well Lawro once again I am going to disagree with you, I think the new manager syndrome will take effect and our 4-5-1 total football formation will confuse Villa, so I am going for a 1-1

I hope Lawro is right this time, good luck for the season anyway. From a nervous Villan.
