Koumas Shines Under Martinez

Koumas Shines Under Martinez

A free £5.3 million player?

Many have criticised Dave Whelan for not spending the money brought into the club by the deals of Valencia, and recently, Cattermole. However, he and Martinez have secured a £5.3 million player, at absolutely no charge.

The recent shock of Cattermole leaving has made many fans angry at Whelan, but in reality we shouldn`t be. Whelan brought in Martinez, who got us a free player. This free player is a Welshman, who has made 33 appearances for the Wales national side.

Jason Koumas, who scored the 2nd goal in Wigan`s demolition of Aston Villa, was considered a dud by fans at the beginning of the season. Some even suggested we trade him for Jason Scotland, that way the move will cost us nothing. But Koumas was in Man of the Match form against Villa, and all though he was probably a little way off MOTM, he had a great game and scored a difficult goal.

Koumas has great ability, and fans have never seen the best out of him. Maybe we will this season, because in my honest opinion, Koumas` best is by far superior to Cattermole`s.

Wait... who the hell is Cattermole??

have always rated Koumas as a very good player, but the signing of martinez will prove to be a whelan masterstroke. this guy is the real deal and although I can see him beeing with you a short time, he will prove a fantastic coack with some great football along the way. I honestly think martinez is heading for the very top in the game and this will be a good wigan season, with him in charge. Great result yesterday by the way.

Not everyone thought his days at Wigan were over ;), a more attacking player gets to play in a more attacking role with the ball at his feet, odds were we would at least see his performance improve with us, early days yet but none the less very positive start for all and momentum, confidence and playing the style of football the players are comfortable with and know they could get a positive result from at the end of the day could see the best out of players like Koumas this season
