Scharner Talks Of Leaving - Again

Scharner Talks Of Leaving - Again

Wigan Athletic defender Paul Scharner is not noted as a man who keeps his inner most thoughts to himself and he does appear to court publicity, as we say in Wigan, he`s a bit of a character.

Well he`s at it again, this time talking to the Mirror, no not the one on the wall, though I suspect he also does that quite a lot, but the Daily Mirror who quote the Austrian as saying: 'Wigan's clear aim for the season is survival. It looks like being a hard battle.

'The transfer window is still open until the end of August, so let's just see what happens.

'If there's nothing, I will be at Wigan at least until the winter.'

Now these words were clearly spoken before yesterdays dynamic display at Aston Villa where the Latics looked anything but relegation threatened. Now it all looks like it`s about where Latics boss Roberto Martinez and Scharner himself see the 29 year old lining up for the team.

Scharner has some daft notion that he is a midfield star, he doesn`t seem to notice when he plays there he looks either like a headless chicken running around clueless or like a rabbit stuck in a cars headlights not knowing which way to turn so freezes.

At least when he plays at the back he does have a positional sense and looks comfortable, he is undoubtedly good on the ball and this allows him to play his way out and sets the team up nicely in the Martinez way, but crazy Sharn`s says he told Bobby that its midfield or bust: 'The manager told me he needs me to play at the back, to bring the ball out and to interpret his tactical concept'

'But I have decided to play in midfield, because that's where I play for Austria, and I told him as much."

Yesterday he played at the back, had a stormer and looked very happy.

He needs to get into his head that he isn't Franz Beckenbauer, if he was as good as he thinks he is then he wouldn't have to keep mouthing off to the tabloids about wanting to leave - someone would have bought him already

Haha is it bad that this story doesn't even phase me at this point? It's been recycled every 3 months for the last 4 years! Like Worbo said, he just wants to be loved. He reminds me of the couple in high school who fights all the time in the cafeteria yelling and screaming and then by the end of the day they are making out under the bleachers.
