Swansea Knock Back Wigan Bodde Bid

Swansea Knock Back Wigan Bodde Bid

Latics have tabled a bid for Swansea City player Ferrie Bodde but had it knocked back by the Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins who says that they are negotiating a new deal with the Dutchman to keep him at the Liberty Stadium.

Speaking to Swansea`s official site Jenkins said: 'Not only have we rejected the bid, but it's an offer we wouldn't even think twice about considering,''

'In fact, the way it is structured - over such a long period of time and appearance related - it doesn't even constitute an offer.

'It certainly doesn't come anywhere near our valuation, especially when we have no intention of losing him.

'Ferrie and his agent are well aware of Wigan's interest. In fact, we have been speaking about a new deal for a number of weeks.

'The talks have been extremely positive and once Ferrie is fit and playing again then we'll be trying to tie him down to Swansea for the next few years.

'Ferrie is more than happy here and is looking forward to getting himself match fit and pulling on a Swansea shirt again.

'He's training with the squad again after his knee injury and it should only be a few weeks before he is available for selection.

'He can't wait to make his comeback and reinforce Paulo Sousa's squad for the rest of the Championship campaign.'

Believed to be £4.5 mil but totally based on appearances

The knee is a risk... don't know, won't be too disappointed if we don't bring him in.

I don't think we'd get much of the fee if it is based mostly on appearances and goals. I don't think he'll be a first team regular and his knee could go again at any time and then he could be out of action.

He will leave Swansea sooner rather than later. If not pre season then most definately in the new year!
