What The Bosses Said - Latics Vs Wolves

Wigan Athletic Vs Wolverhampton Wanderers didn`t quite live up to the expectations of most Latics fans following the 2-0 win at Villa Park on Saturday though Wolves do look a strong and committed side.

Following the game both managers Roberto Martinez and Mick McCarthy spoke to the press, lets see what they had to say

Latics boss Roberto Martinez

'Well I think we saw two different performances. In the first 20 minutes we didn't find that intensity in our play and probably we paid the price for what has been a very demanding week.

'Many players went away on international duty and it is a big day the first league game and probably the first 20 minutes we looked sloppy.

'Wolves were on top in that period - obviously they got a goal and they created a couple of chances.

'But then after that, the reaction in the second half I'm really, really pleased.'

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy

'I thought we played well Saturday and today we have had to play differently - we've had to be organised and defend.

'If there's anything I've learnt and the players have learnt is that we can play at this level, because there are not many who've played here before you know.'
