Bruce Back With Figueroa Bid

Bruce Back With Figueroa Bid

The Daily Mail are reporting that Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has retuned to Wigan Athletic with a £5 million bid for left back Maynor Figueroa who he wants to take to the North East and link up with former team mate Lee Cattermole.

If this bid is accepted and Figgy goes then the club can expect one almighty back lash from the supporters, surely following on from a summer of really negative talk from the powers that be at the DW it is time that they did their bit and showed some intent to the fans.

With the sale of Lee Cattermole for a bargain £6 million and the rumoured discontent amongst some players at the club it is about time that some positive PR was voiced by our chairman and all Latics fans would love him to tell Bruce what to do over this reported bid.

The quotes of 'Wigan Athletic supporters are just happy to be in the Premier League` and `Me and my wife will be delighted to see Antonio Valencia run out in a Manchester United shirt` that have been made by Whelan are disrespectful to the people who follow our club week in and week out.

We`re no mugs and we know that we will never be the big club that United, Arsenal or even Everton are but we don`t expect our chairman to keep reminding us about that fact, take a leaf out of the books of other chairmen and be proud and competitive, however he made it in the business world is beyond me, `Get down to Sports Division, they have good stuff` or `JJB will never be as big as JD Sports` weren`t statements that he used to generate interest about his passion.

No Dave Whelan, tell Bruce where to get off and give us some hope for the year ahead

If we sell Figueroa I think it's safe to say we are the laughing stock of the Premier League! Tell him to eff off Whelan.

Knowing Whelan he will sit in his chair and remain comforted with the words "We have a very capable replacement in Erik Edman". Don't get me wrong Erik is a class professional but we need the depth and if we lose Figgy we will struggle to find an adequate replacement in time before the transfer window shutters come down. Figgy is awesome he must stay!

Apart from Hugo Figgy is best player left at the club, Edman showed on Wednesday that unfortunately the injury has taken its toll. As well as left back he is good enough cover at CB to sell him would be absolute madness. Why do we need to sell at undermarket prices - see Cattermole??

Just read an article regarding this one on Sky Sports and I thought I was reading the article that I read a couple of weeks ago saying that Sunderland were after Lee Cattermole but he was going nowhere.Just looked the same only the name had been changed to Maynor Figueroa. So I know what I'm expecting again.
