Brown To Leave For Portsmouth

Wigan Athletic midfield man Michael Brown is holding talks down on the south coast with Portsmouth boss Paul Hart over a possible move to Latics Premier League rivals.

It is understood that the Latics have agreed a fee with Pompey and there is a 3 year deal on the table for 32 year old Brown if he fancies the move, which looks likely at the moment.

Brown was signed by Chris Hutchings two years ago for just over £2 million from Fulham and his no nonsense battling midfield style made him a firm favourite with the Latics faithful, you know that he always delivers 100% effort and his commitment on the pitch can never be questioned.

With the Latics midfield overloaded it was always likely that there would be players moving out before the current transfer window slams shut next Tuesday, but I for one will be sad to see Brownie go, if we end up in a battle this season he is just the type of character you need in your side.

Big decision to let a battling midfielder with Brownies experience leave...hope it doesnt come back to bite us
worbo
do you boys rate him?? Im a Pompey fan and we need all the help we can get!!!

From Brown's POV: 32 y/o midfielder who is on last year of his contract being offered 3 years more work. So I can understand. Plus it looks like he wasn't going to be starting too many games. I thought he would go to a Champ club a lot earlier in the window.

I rate him....he always gives 100% and he's always nattering away to the oppo and the ref all the game winding them up. Not the best footballer but a battler and if you are in a scrap he will be good to have on board
worbo
Be quite happy for him to stay with you, hes little more than a thug but at least he's better than Barton.
