Michael Brown Gone

Michael Brown Gone

Wigan Athletic midfield man Michael Brown has signed for Portsmouth on a two year deal not three year as previously reported and he will be available to make his debut for the south coast club in the match against Manchester City on Sunday

Brown made 64 appearances for Latics since joining in July 2007 from Fulham, starting 51 times.

His last appearance was in the home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 32-year-old makes the return to Pompey where he spent a loan spell back in 1999, appearing four times for the south-coast side, whilst under contract at Manchester City.

In his career he has made 329 league appearances for Manchester City, Hartlepool United, Portsmouth, Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Wigan Athletic, making as further 44 appearances in cup competitions, giving him a total of 373 appearances.

Brownie will be missed by the Latics fans for his no nonsense style but he goes with the best wishes from here at Vital Latics

"I don't think we are in a position as a football club now where we need to sell anyone" oh yeah, Martinez might not think that, but somebody does if Brown has been auctioned off! I am disgruntled.

Would have preferred to keep him, know his age is up there but always put the effort in and was guaranteed to upset some of the arsenals and liverpools by getting in their faces and not letting them play the way they want to do.just hope our new midfield will do the same job.
