Latics to Move for Great Scott

Scottish media reports suggest Wigan Athletic want Celtic's Australian striker Scott McDonald on a season long loan

A report that would seem more at home on April the first states that McDonald's agent, Willie McKay has held preliminary talks with the Celtic chief executive who doesn't want the move to go ahead.

McDonald who has been at Celtic for two seasons after signing from Motherwell has scored 43 goals in 71 games for the Hoops.

With Wigan boss Roberto Martinez desperate to sign extra firepower a move for McDonald would be welcomed by Latics fans but it would be an amazing event if it occured.

He is a player that I dont know much about but a striker is needed quickly

Take him! On the face of it he has a good strike rate - but there is absolutely nothing else to Scott McDonald's game; his first touch is awful, he can hardly make a 10 yard pass and he struggles to stay onside. He is also a grumpy bassa. You're welcome to him, but, it's not my decision :-(

"Negotiations are at an early stage. Roberto is a big admirer of Scott and believes he would score a lot of goals in the Premier League. "A loan might not sound like the ideal situation but if Scott goes down to England and makes his mark, his value will shoot through the roof."

Doesn't sound like its really going to happen but isn't it about time we were linked with one or two premiership quality strikers?there must be money available with all the sales going on.Is it just me or is Mr Whelan just selling off players to balance the books with a view to selling up,given his comments about crowds and do we want premiership football in Wigan?
Bobbo
i hope we get him and plus another striker like a target man

Is it just me or does the Celtic fan above sound a hell of a lot like the Swansea fans describing Jason Scotland?
Sheikh_Mahand
hes class... but i cant really see this happening tbh
d_manga_fanatic
Hey Sheikh, how is Jason Scotland doing?
cathal
God awful so far thanks cathal. He's got to buck his ideas up a lot, much like most of our squad at the minute. He'll get better as he adjusts to the pace of the Premiership - both him and Jordi Gomez are showing how much of a step up it is.
