With the transfer window firmly shut until January (unless your Chelsea of course) I thought, due to the free weekend, that it might be a good time to reflect back on our summer incomings and have a little vote on who we, the Latics fans, consider to be the best summer acquisition by the club.
There has been lots of news on the outgoings but lets take a closer look on the lads who have signed on the dotted line for our club, got their squad number and made a first team appearance, yes just the lads who have played will be included in the poll, so without further ado:
Hendry Thomas, originally a Steve Bruce target but still opted to join us even though Bruce had left, Thomas has made the centre mid spot his own starting in all the Premier League games so far this season and he`s even been back home to Honduras twice already for World Cup qualifiers.
Jordi Gomez signed from Espanyol after spending last season on loan with Martinez at Swansea, again he has started all Premier League games and though not yet on the score sheet, the attacking midfield player has gone close.
Jason Scotland the big set Trinidad and Tobago international has followed his old boss up to the Latics from Swansea and is yet to make a start though he has featured in all Latics league matches coming off the bench, leading scorer for Swansea in the past two seasons, yet to get off the mark for the Latics.
Scott Sinclair bright Chelsea prospect, spent much of his Chelsea career on loan and he is with us for the year, featured heavily as an impact sub so far, pushing for a start though.
James McCarthy made his debut coming on as a sub against Manchester United and then started in the Carling Cup tie at Blackpool, the former Hamilton youngster has a big reputation and he will be chomping at the bit to feature more.
Momo Diame another player with a big reputation, signed from Rayo Vallecano of the Spanish second division following a protracted transfer saga that lasted for most of the summer the deal was set up but then there were complications with the medical, finally signed in time to make his debut against Manchester United starting in the middle alongside Hendry Thomas.
Antonio Amaya also signed like Diame from Rayo Vallecano, a big bustling centre half who started the game against Blackpool in the Carling Cup alongside Paul Scharner at the back and he scored a consolation goal for the Latics with a bullet header in the final moments of the game.
Well there you have them, seven new guys all with something to prove, but who has made the best impression on you?
