Spanish Goalkeeper Set For Wigan Athletic

Spanish Goalkeeper Set For Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic are being linked with a move for Atletico Madrid`s young goalkeeper David De Gea according to the Sunday People.

18 year old De Gea is 6` 3" and has represented Spain at under 17, under19 and under 21 levels, he is highly regarded and Latics boss Roberto Martinez sees the young Spaniard as Chris Kirklands understudy.

De Gea is nicknamed Van de Gea by his team-mates due to his similarities to Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar and indeed United have been linked with the youngster in the past

With Mike Pollitt fast approaching retirement and Richard Kingson simply not good enough it is imperative that Martinez finds a suitable second goalkeeper and De Gea could fit the bill

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
