Jason Koumas Announces International Retirement


Wigan Athletic midfield player Jason Koumas has announced his retirement from international football following talks with Wales manager John Toshack

Koumas made 34 appearances, scoring 10 goals since his debut in June 2001 and his last appearance was a 2-0 defeat by Finland earlier this year, he now intends to concentrate on his club career where he features heavily in the plans of Latics boss Roberto Martinez

A statement put out by the Welsh FA say`s that national coach John Toshack 'thanked Koumas for his past services to the team and went on to wish him well for the future at Wigan Athletic.'
