Wigan Athletic appear to have scuppered what former boss and Sunderland manager Steve Bruce believed to be a done deal, the acquisition of Latics left back Maynor Figueroa.
Now it is understood from several sources that the Latics knocked back a substantial offer for the Honduras number 3 and now Bruce is reporting that he only allowed Danny Collins to leave Sunderland for Stoke City on deadline day because, as he put it, a deal was done, to bring a left back top the club.
Speaking to the Sunderland Echo Bruce said: "I thought we were getting a left-back in on deadline day - the deal was practically done, but at the very last minute it didn't come off."
Well good on you Roberto if you led Mr Potato Head a merry dance and if he is still interested in a left sided player and one that he has previously signed then maybe we can get him to give us an enormous amount of money for Olivier Kapo
