What The Bosses Said - Arsenal Vs Latics

Following yesterdays game between Arsenal and Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium, both bosses, Roberto Martinez and Arsene Wenger spoke to the press, lets see what they had to say:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez:

'Today, we knew we were playing against an outstanding team and it's always going to be a tough place to visit,' said Martinez.

'If you give Arsenal the ball, don't stop them from playing, then they'll dictate things and it becomes very dangerous from then on.

'We had the chance to get an equaliser and Hugo had a chance at 2-0 which would have given us a bit more belief.

'But if we're being honest with ourselves we didn't reach the levels we wanted to and we weren't ourselves, and that's disappointing.

'I know we are better than that though, we need to have the belief in ourselves, get on the ball and dictate things. It's not about who we're playing against, it's about us and our performances, so that's what we need to remember to improve in the future.

'It's been a tough and demanding start to the league, we knew the games we had ahead, five of which were against teams who finished in the top six last season.

'We'll use these experiences to grow as a team and make sure we get stronger game by game. We need to keep pushing ourselves towards being in our best condition and being able to be in a situation where we can dictate games.

'Lets learn from this situation, in terms of wherever we go we have to be ourselves in order to be competitive.'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger:

'It is a continuance of our performances since the start of the season.

'We showed our resilience, a great attitude and played with fluency. Our job is not to talk too much but to win games.

'We were faithful to the way we wanted to play up until the end of the game. Everybody worked hard for the team.'
