M`Bami`s Last Chance as Latics Face Blackburn

M`Bami`s Last Chance as Latics Face Blackburn

Wigan Athletic reserves take on their Blackburn Rovers counterparts this afternoon (Wednesday) in the Lancashire Senior Cup 1st Round, the game will be played at the Robin Park Arena with a 2pm kick-off.

The Latics are expecting to name a strong looking side with James McCarthy, Daniel DeRidder, Olivier Kapo and Rachid Bouaouzan likely to be in the starting line-up

Included in the team for sure will be trialist Modeste M`Bami who will feature in his 2nd reserve game has he attempts to earn a contract with the Latics following his release by French club Marseille in the summer

Latics boss Roberto Martinez says that the Cameroon international has lacked fitness but after some intense training session with the club he is now nearing where he should be and a final decision on M`Bami will be made following the game, Martinez says: 'Modeste will play once more in the reserves today, and we'll probably make a final assessment on him after the game.

'He's been working hard to get his fitness levels to where they should be, and now we can give him a proper assessment.'
