Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is gearing his side up for tomorrows clash with league leaders Chelsea and insists that the Latics need to be themselves and focus on their own positives and not worry too much about the opposition, Martinez says: 'You give a big advantage to a top-four side when you go into the game and don't be yourself. We need to make sure we are in there for the 90 minutes.
'The minute you think 'we're playing Chelsea' it affects your performance, and that's where we failed last Saturday against Arsenal. It's a worry that Chris Kirkland was our best player in a defeat like that."
The Latics boss knows that getting some confidence back in his side after the mauling at Arsenal is very important and he will be looking at how his players respond to the defeat, he is hoping they bounce back and get a win, he continued: 'When you come off the back of a defeat getting the points is important, but I'm looking at the performance more than anything.
'It's how we soak up pressure, and make sure we can affect the game and perform as well as we can on the ball.
'What we are going to do is be ourselves and go for a win, it would be fantastic for the town of Wigan.
'It's a glamourous game and we need to make sure we are ready.'
Martinez intends to be positive against Ancelotti`s men, he says they are unpredictable but says that playing defensively will be a recipe for disaster and he is aiming to get at Chelsea and cause them some problems, he concluded: 'They are not predictable at all, they have different dimensions and they can hurt you in many ways.
'They can be patient, they can be direct, they are a complete team. If you want to approach a game against Chelsea to keep a clean sheet, I think it's a recipe for disaster.
'Instead we have to face them and make sure we can hurt them as much as they can hurt us.'
From a fans perspective a feel a draw would be a fantastic result but I agree with Martinez that if the Latics sit back and invite Chelsea on we will get pasted
