Roberto Martinez Wary of Tigers Bite

Roberto Martinez Wary of Tigers Bite

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez says that the Latics need to be wary of catching the backlash of Hull City`s mauling at the hands of Liverpool last weekend but stresses that so long as they are focussed then they should be fine.

Whilst the Latics were beating Chelsea 3-1, Hull were getting hammered at Anfield 6-1 but the Wigan boss says that getting any points away from home in the Premier League is difficult and it will be no exception at the KC Stadium this weekend

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post Martinez said: 'We all know how difficult it is to win points away from home in the Premier League, so I don't think we will be under any extra pressure.

'The only pressure comes from within and what we put on ourselves.

'We want to go to everywhere in the Premier League and look to win the game, and we'll carry on doing that.

'But I think to say we will be expected to win will be a bit too much.

'Yes, we are coming in off a very good performance - and forget about the result against Chelsea, it was all about the performance - but we need to maintain those standards.

'Sometimes when you are going through the good times, you can drop your standards or take your eye off the ball.'

"They're going to be fully focused and we have to be very wary'

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
