Martinez Happy to See a Happy Scotland

Martinez Happy to See a Happy Scotland

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez says he is delighted to see Jason Scotland enjoying his football at the Latics after giving the former Swansea City striker his fist start last weekend against Chelsea since his summer move to the DW Stadium.

It looks as though the Trinidad and Tobago international is set to keep his place with Martinez revealing to the Wigan Evening Post that it`s the football that makes the decision of who plays and not the manager, with Scotland`s all guns blazing performance last Saturday and his bosses praise ringing in his ears it looks like more of the same for tomorrows trip to Hull.

Speaking to the Post Martinez said: 'That's what you want in the squad. The manager never makes the decision, the football makes the decision - I've always felt that way.

'The Chelsea game was Jason's first start, and the first time he'd played against a pair as experienced as Ricardo Carvalho and John Terry.

'To see him enjoying his football and being a rock was pleasing, but it didn't surprise me at all because that's why we signed him.

'He is still adapting to a new level and a new football club, and I think he will put smiles on a lot of people's faces this season.'

Looks like Roberto will stick with the same side from last week for tomorrows game and who can blame him following that fantastic performance.
