Wigan Athletic - Kilgallon on The Radar

Wigan Athletic have once more got Sheffield United defender Matt Kilgallon firmly in their sights ahead of the next transfer window opening in January, following initial enquiries this summer.

Kilgallon`s contract expires at the end of the season and he says that there have been no offers forthcoming from the Blades also the cultured central defender says that he is desperate to get back playing in the Premier League and might have to leave Sheffield United to achieve this ambition.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez is known to be a keen admirer of Kilgallon and strengthening the defence is and area that he has identified for attention come January, though the Daily Mirror are reporting that Latics have competition from Bolton with Wanderers boss Gary Megson also eyeing a move for 6`2" defender.

Speaking to Sky Sports Kilgallon said: 'I haven't been offered a new contract at Sheffield, I have had nothing in front of me.

'I'm 25 now and everyone wants to play in the Premier League.

'I think it will suit me more to how I play. It is an important time in my career and I want to play as high as I can. So if I play well that's what could happen.'
