Maynor Figueroa Suffers Medial Ligament Tear

Wigan Athletic left back Maynor Figueroa suffered a tear in his medial ligament in todays game at Turf Moor against Burnley and now the Honduras international will be out of action for several weeks.

Speaking after the game Latics boss Roberto Martinez confirmed that Figueroa suffered a grade two tear to the ligament which normally does not require surgery and will more than likely keep the 26 year old defender side-lined until December.

Fans favourite Figueroa has been an ever present in the Latics side since making his debut in the last game of the 2007/08 season, starting every league match last season and the first ten of this season.

Figueroa`s absence will give Erik Edman a chance to get some first team action, the Swede lost his place in the side following a serious knee injury almost two years ago but the classy left back is an ideal replacement and should step straight into the team.

Best wishes Figgy on a speedy recovery from all at Vital Latics
