Latics with Watching Eye on Rangers

With Rangers rumoured to be in financial difficulty, Latics are keeping a watching brief should the Glasgow giants decide to list their entire squad in January.

Gers boss Walter Smith is threatening to quit the cash strapped club amid rumours and reports that Lloyds Bank is trying to force the clubs CEO Martin Bain to stand down and with Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy contacting Lloyds to discuss the financial crisis at Ibrox situation doesn`t look too good.

Two players believed to be on the wanted list are striker Kris Boyd who Latics tried to sign in the summer and attacking midfielder Pedro Mendes who was a success at Portsmouth in the Premier League.

Apparently Martinez was very close to clinching a deal for Boyd on the final day of the last transfer window and he has hinted that he would re-kindle his interest once January arrives, the Scotland international is also in the last 6 months of his contract with Rangers making a deal all the more likely even without the current plight of the club.

Boyd wouldn't be able to handle the EPL and Mendes isn't the same player he use to be. So for those reasons - if Wigan were to bid on both - I happily drive them down myself.

No way is it going to happen - Rangers are an Institution and will never, ever find themselves in that bad a position - any players that get sold will be ones Walter wants to sell or he walks - angers would not gamble on that - We arra People

Boyd is a true blue and doeswn't want to leave...he wants to try and beat Coisty's scoring record. The Chairman was trying to push him away as he did with Hutton...but things have changed and Boyd would be valued at his proper price of 7 million now Murray is not anything to do with that side of things...he is still a majorshareholder or is he haha makes you wonder. We shall never be defeated and No Surrender. God save the King and Queen LOL Dave King the next owner of Rangers
