Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has commented on this weeks controversial story regarding Latics boss Roberto Martinez and newspaper reports in Spain that filtered there way across the Channel causing both embarrassment and amusement along the way.
It was reported that Martinez said basically Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson had the FA in his pocket and in Steve Bruce and Sam Allardyce he had two foot soldiers when it came to fellow managers siding with him.
Now a lot of people in football agree with these comments and it was quite amusing to imagine that the new kid on the block was actually standing up and saying what a lot were thinking.
Unfortunately Martinez` comments had been manipulated at best and totally made up at worst, so the young manager picked up the phone and called Ferguson, Bruce, Benitez and Allardyce to give them his explanation.
Speaking at a press conference today Blackburn boss Allardyce says that he accepts what Martinez tells him to be the truth and that he also accepts his apology, and he says that Roberto will have learnt a real lesson, Allardyce said: 'I accept what he said when he rang me. When I saw the papers I thought, 'Is it true or isn't it? But I have to take his word for it, which I do.
'Welcome to the Premier League, Roberto. Keep your mouth shut in the future or make sure you remember what is going to be done in the Premier League.
'If they have distorted his words, then that is something of a regular occurrence at this level.
'It's not a real problem for me, I just think Roberto has learnt a harsh lesson about what happens in the Premier League if you start diverting away from you and your club business.
'You can say you can be misinterpreted, you can say you can be read wrong, but it's a lesson that when you comment in this league on anything it can be blown out of all proportion.
'He's apologised to me and I accept that apology.'
