Wigan Athletic - Figueroa Fee Keeps Rising

The price on Wigan Athletic left back Maynor Figueroa is rising all the time according to the national press.

This week there have been numerous reports that former boss Steve Bruce will be coming back to the Latics in January to sign a player he thought he`d secured on transfer deadline day two months ago only to be thwarted by Wigan pulling the plug on the deal at the last minute.

Now every day this past week there appears to have been a report in one newspaper or another claiming that Bruce is confident that he will get his man with the fee being quoted from as low as £3 million to todays People which is claiming £6 million will see Figueroa move up to the North East.

Yesterdays game at Portsmouth shows me how vital the Honduras international is to the Latics and the quality he brings to the defence, like all good players, is obvious when he isn`t playing, Figueroa is pivotal to the clubs progression and hopefully the management will realise this and only a head turning offer will see us selling a player with three years still remaining on his contract.

3 for £30

Absolutely! If we sell we are left with the ever injured Edman! A good player but getting on a little now. For me it'd have to be a Palacios/Valencia Figure to let him go.

At least get more money than that if/when we sell.

Considering the people are calling him "Figuera" I think ALL the rumors are just a bit rubbish.

We'll never get that kind of money (Palacios, Valencia) for a LB who doesn't score many goals and who isn't English or French.

Being top of the league didn't last long, did it? We'll leave that talk until May from now on. We drew 1-1 with a well-drilled Gillingham side.
