Wigan Athletic - Benni McCarthy Available

Blackburn Rovers striker, South Africa international and Mario Melchiot`s best mate, Benni McCarthy fancies a move to the Latics or Burnley or Hull or Portsmouth or anywhere he can get some first team action according to his agent Rob Moore.

At 31 and not seeing much play time McCarthy is realising that now is the time to be leaving Ewood Park for pastures new, whether that would be the DW Stadium is open to question but there is no denying that McCarthy is a talented player and would bring some valuable experience to the Latics front line.

McCarthy`s agent Rob Moore is convinced that his players future lies away from Blackburn and he has told the press as much, Moore says: "Benni wants to leave Blackburn Rovers.

"He has not been given the chance to show his worth this season in the Premier League and there is no denying that it seems like he is not the type of player that Sam Allardyce is looking for"

With Martinez already stating that he is trying to secure the signing of Raul Tamudo from Espanyol in January it seems unlikely that McCarthy would be making the short trip down the M65 and M6 to Wigan

A bit old but he would be decent for a year and a half maybe, but I wish that we would focus on different targets.

BM is a totally overrated player who would do absolutely nothing for Wigan. More suited to a gradual decline in the MLS if you ask me.
