A young Wigan Athletic reserve side took a bit of a beating this evening losing to their Everton counterparts by 5 goals to 2 at Robin Park Arena.

Playing in goal for Everton was former Latic Carlo Nash who held the Latics at bay during the first half but in the Wigan goal Callum Williams was at fault on three occasions as the Toffees ran in a 3-0 lead at half time.

Everton were the first to show when Kieran Agard burst through on goal after 10 minutes only to be up ended in the Latics box by Adam Buxton, the ref blew his whistle but to the astonishment of the crowd instead of awarding a penalty he booked Agard for diving.

Everton took the lead on 17 minutes when following a free kick a soft header by Everton defender Shane Duffy eluded Williams in the Latics goal 1-0, 5 minutes later and Duffy got his second this time looping a header over the Latics keeper who was stood on his line and appeared to let the ball just go over his head.

With his confidence shattered Callum Williams was totally at fault for Evertons 3rd goal on 35 minutes when Tom Donegan pumped a hopeful ball into the Latics box and Williams ran out and the ball bounced over his head and into the net. 3-0

Latics had chances with both Cywka and Kupisz going close with good efforts and Joe Holt making himself busy in midfield causing the Everton defence problems.

Agard scored a good goal for Everton on 53 minutes latching onto a long clearance from Carlo Nash and smashing a great effort into the net from 10 yards.

Latics got a penalty on 56 minutes when Kupisz was dragged down in the box and Tomasz Cywka smashed the resultant spot kick home to make the score 1-4 but Everton restored their four goal advantage when a sweet strike from Donegan on the half volley made it 1-5

Latics rapped up the nights scoring on 67 minutes when a good effort from Jon Routledge was too powerfull for Nash in the Everton goal and the game finished Wigan Athletic 2-5 Everton
