Wigan Athletic Achieve Historic Landmark

What a landmark for Wigan Athletic in the game against Fulham on Sunday, no wonder we settled for a draw, its what the Gods deemed was going to happen prior to kick-off, why? What are you on about I hear you say.

The Latics went into the game on 1999 points gained as a league side since their first win, which was a 3-0 home victory against Rochdale 13th September 1978 to their last win the 3-1 away triumph at Burnley 31 years later.

So with the point gained against Fulham that racks up 2000 league points in total for Wigan Athletic

A fantastic landmark for the club to reach exactly 2000 league points from just 1406 games and prior to the 1981/82 season teams were awarded just 2 points for the win not 3 as is the case today.

So congratulations to the Latics and here is to the next 2000 points.

You must have some fantastic memories of games that we have achieved points in over the years, and you must have a favourite that sticks out, either from the mists of time like that first win against Rochdale or something more recent like breaking our hoodoo against Chelsea, why not jot them down and send them in and Vital Latics will publish them under the heading 2000 Memories.
