Paulo Sousa Praise For Latics Target

Paulo Sousa Praise For Latics Target

Wigan Athletic reported transfer target Ashley Williams has all the qualities to play at the top level, who says so? Williams current boss at Swansea City, Paulo Sousa that`s who.

As first reported here on Vital last week Roberto Martinez is rumoured to be weighing up a bid for another of his former players and the 25 year old central defender is destined for the highest level if two times Champions League winner Sousa is to be believed.

Williams skippered Wales to an emphatic win over Scotland on Saturday, three days previously he had been named Wales player of the year pushing Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs into second place.

The former Stockport County man has made a name for himself at the heart of the Swansea defence and attracted a lot of interest not just from the Latics and Sousa says he wont be out of his depth should he make the move to the Premier League.

Speaking to reporters the Swansea boss says: 'He already has the quality to play in outstanding teams'

'Ashley has grown a lot and has developed a lot as a player. But he has time to progress, be more consistent in his game and have more quality.

'He is a player that wants to progress and I think he has not finished here.

'He has a lot of chance to progress and get a lot of recognition because he is a fantastic boy and a fantastic player.'

'He is someone, in my opinion, that can achieve higher levels in his career'

High praise indeed from a man who has played at the top himself, Swansea are apparently looking for £3million for a player they paid £400,000 for just 18 months ago, he has developed quickly!
