Roberto Martinez Delighted To Have Erik Edman Back

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has spoken about his delight to have former Spurs left back Erik Edman available again following his 18 month injury lay-off

Edman returned to Premier League action in Latics last outing the 1-1 draw with Fulham two weeks ago and Martinez acknowledges that the Sweden international is excited about the prospect of lining up against his former club.

Speaking to the clubs official website the Latics boss says that Edman also brings competition to the squad, he said: 'We've been very pleased with Erik's return after an 18 month absence through injury.

'It was a big step for him to be able to play competitive football again against Fulham, and an exciting moment for us to see him back in action. He's getting stronger and fitter now and he's excited about the prospect of playing against one of his former clubs.

'So we're delighted to have a player back who gives us great quality and adds a competitive edge to the squad.'
