Martinez Says It`s Unacceptable - Video

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez said that his teams performance and result today in the 9-1 defeat against Spurs was unacceptable.

Martinez says the defending during the game wasn`t good enough and that once again the Latics started a game slowly, he said:'It was unacceptable and unexpected. The way we defended in key moments was not good enough.

'I am embarrassed as it's a result we don't want to be associated with. We need to move on quickly and give a good reaction in the next game.

'I've never been involved in a game like this. But the damage of this won't be carried into the next game.'

'We had felt in a very mentally good moment and came here with a determination to get the three points'

'We started the game poorly and Spurs took advantage with one goal but after that we finished half stronger.

'But the next three goals are unacceptable basic defending errors and failure to take responsibility in one-on-one situations and we really got punished.

'We will look into every single detail. In key moments and key situations we were not good enough and Spurs took advantage of that.'

'We need to understand why this happened and when you do that you become stronger

'It is a unique test you do not get many situations like that. The reality is we lost the game and nothing else and we need to make sure next home game we react and get back to ourselves.

'Sometimes we do not react well to disappointment but we will get over this and be a stronger side and react in the right way.'
