Sunderland Expect A Stroll In The Park

Wigan Athletic Vs Sunderland on Saturday at the DW Stadium is building up into the seasons must win game just to ram the smugness of the wannabe big boys back where they belong.

Sunderland boss Stave Bruce knows how to work the press; we saw that in his time as Latics boss, he drops subtle hints about players he liked to sign and chases them relentlessly, Lee Cattermole for example, and he has now instilled into his players a superiority complex.

Sunderland full back, George McCartney, that classy defender, who by the way Bruce is after replacing, as been talking about how `easy` Saturdays game will be for the Wearsiders and how a win is inevitable.

Fashionable Sunderland, yeah right, travel to Lancashire thinking the game is already in the bag, well good for them, they will be in for a shock if they think it will be a stroll in the park

Speaking to the Northern Echo McCartney says: "This year we`ve beaten the top teams and we`re going into the Wigan game thinking it`s one of the easier matches. It`s certainly a game we should win."

The afore mentioned Northern Echo have joined in the Latics bashing by calling us one of the leagues lesser teams and unfashionable opposition, come on fellows, have you appointed Sunderland to take over the Geordie mantle? Remember what happened to them.

The North East for some reason sees itself as the bastion of football when in actual fact it`s the back end of nowhere, just one Premier League club testifies to that, keep the smugness up and you will soon become detested up and down the Premier League.

full article here: http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/sunderland/4761294.McCartney_expecting_a_win_at_Wigan/ lets put it this way, some section of the fans are very much like the club's chairman. it becomes brucey's fault when the team gets thrashed but it in entirely the manager's credit for fashioning wins over top clubs like chelsea. similarly, the article 'conveniently' took out certain words in the article. In the article, mccarthy was saying: Against the lesser teams we’ve been a bit disappointed that we haven’t beaten or at least taken a draw off them. We haven’t been out of the top ten this season whereas last season were seen as one of the lesser teams in the division. This year we’ve beaten the top teams and we’re going into the Wigan game thinking it’s one of the easier matches, no disrespect to Wigan. It’s certainly a game we feel we should win.” 'no disrespect to wigan' was conveniently left out in this article....i wonder why. EAsier in this context actually denotes comparing to the top 4. u telling me that u guys are harder to beat than the top dogs in the league? this article is blatant bs, trying to stir **** among opposing fans.

Well it would possibly seem that we are harder to beat for you according to your results against Arsenal and Liverpoll and subsequent ones against Stoke etc..the article is actually on the back of Wigan taking a lot of stick from the BBC and the Northern Echo, who are mentioned above, appear to be coming down on the Latics as an unfashionable club, you cant tell me that the tone of the original article in the Echo was anything but suggesting that Latics were inferior to Sunderland, that is what got me rilled and also this for opposing fans or to stir anything up....check the rest of the articles on this page to get a good reflection of where we are coming from, also haoki are you a Sunderland fan? If so I have been trying to get hold of one for an interview, do you fancy? Just to show that nothing is trying to be stirred up, if so email me your email address @ wigan@vitalfootball.co.uk and I will be in touch as they say
