Martinez On Wigan's Second Half Problem

Martinez On Wigan's Second Half Problem

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez has sat through a recording of last Sundays mauling at Spurs 10 times to try and analyse what went wrong and he hopes that valuable lessons have been learned.

Speaking about the game Martinez says that if you asked anyone at half-time to predict the full time score they wouldn`t get it, and he goes on to say that the second half was a horror show and not for the first time this season.

It seems that there is a recurring problem here, Latics were level with Manchester United at half time only to capitulate during the second half and concede 5 goals, at Everton the Latics were this time leading the game 1-0 only to concede twice in the last half hour whilst Arsenal put 3 second half goals passed us in a 4-0 defeat and we all know what happened on Sunday.

It does appear that there is a problem and the vast majority of goals conceded have come following the half-time interval, whatever is going into the Latics tea at the break needs to be changed.

Speaking to the press on this problem Martinez says: 'If you watch the first half and ask anyone to guess the (full-time) score I don't think anyone would get it right'

'There were many things we didn't do right in the second half. The scoreline highlights the problems we have had this season and we need to ensure that never happens again and get back to the levels which, at times, have been outstanding this season.'

Maybe an idea to get them to change straight round or perhaps get them a little fitter?

I tell u something regarding our after half time woes, Roberto allways keeps the team in and makes the opposition wait for a minute or two. We just stroll out and the ref who has been hanging around as well blows to start straight away, and we get caught cold and have conceded a few goals this way
