Latics Set For Biggest Gate of the Season

Latics Set For Biggest Gate of the Season

When Wigan Athletic suffered the embarrassing 9-1 defeat at White Hart Lane last week Roberto Martinez could have been forgiven for thinking that this weeks game may have seen a backlash from the Latics supporters, well quite the opposite has happened.

The club today announced that the Sunderland fixture is set to be the biggest gate of the season so far with supporters showing their loyalty to both the boss and the team as Bobby`s boys try to put last weeks horror show behind them by getting one over on former boss Steve Bruce who is now in charge of Sunderland.

Martinez knows that a good atmosphere can lift the players and it is something that he is hoping for, speaking to the clubs official website Martinez said: "The game will be won on the field, but the help of our wonderful fans can make a big difference tomorrow.

'The home form has been really encouraging and we need to approach tomorrow's game exactly the way we approached the games against West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester City and Fulham.

'And we definitely need the support of the fans again to create a passionate atmosphere that will give the players a big lift.'

Lets get behind the lads, bring it on

wot sort of reception will Bruce get? Merlin....not a very good on me thinks, there are quite a few people taking tesco shopping bags along to the game to taunt him with, this is with reference to his comments when he left us that from now on he can shop at Harrods instead of Tesco when buying players

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
