Vote For Your Latics Man of the Match

Vote For Your Latics Man of the Match

Wigan Athletic 1-0 Sunderland

Well that win was possibly the most important of the season and just as satisfying for the players must be the fact that Sunderland didn`t score.

Following on from last weeks mauling at Spurs the Latics had to respond otherwise confidence could have been absolutely shattered and freefall just might have occurred, but respond is exactly what the players did.

There were some excellent performances all around the pitch, Maynor Figueroa back for his first game since October brought reliability back to the defence helping to steady the ship, he also got forward well and supported the attack when he could and he had a great chance with a header from a Gomez corner, unfortunately it ended up in the Sunderland keepers arms.

Hugo Rodallega was impressive, a real handful for the Sunderland defence, he worked tirelessly for the cause and took his goal really well, how on earth did he hit the target from that angle?

Paul Scharner made a nuisance of himself all over the pitch and he was named the sponsors Man of the Match but for me the Latics player who stood head and shoulders above the others all afternoon was Charles N`Zogbia

Little Charlie was excellent, he never stopped running all day, he was excellent both on the right then on his more favoured left when switched in the second half, he carried the ball superbly when he went on several mazy runs plus he gave protection to his full backs and tracked back which we know is a lesson learned from last week.

N`Zogbia is my choice but who is yours? To vote go to the poll, its situated near to the bottom on the right side of this page, select your option then hit the submit button, its that easy.
