Jackson Martinez All Set To Join in January

The Sunday People have picked up on Latics target, Colombia international Jackson Martinez getting ready to arrive in the UK in search of a work permit to allow him to join his compatriot Hugo Rodallega at the DW Stadium.

Jackson Martinez and his agent held talks with the Latics in November and were very impressed by what they saw and heard from namesake and Latics boss Roberto Martinez and now the hotshot is ready to say his goodbyes to sunny South America and head for the chillier climes of the UK

Jackson Martinez is currently playing for Independiente Medellin in Colombia and he is certainly catching the eye with Panathinaikos of Greece and Mexican club América de México showing interest in the 23 year old but it looks like the Latics have won the race for his signature.

A pacey forward who is taking South America by storm and he`s already bagged 13 goals in 16 games for his club so far this season, a UK work permit may be a problem with Martinez just featuring 3 times for Colombia but because he is rated as the top Colombian prospect special dispensation can be granted

A fee of around 5 million US Dollars (£3.5m) is thought to have been agreed with his club
